Playful garden stakes for houseplants

Misho are water resistant garden stakes for vines, climbing plants, and any plant that needs support. Each stake is topped with a fun Misho clan member that'll help your plants grow!

Misho was sold at the Make10 marketplace during Fall 2022 Launchpad.

A more fun and visually pleasing garden stake

Current garden stakes detract from the beauty of the plant.

Many houseplant owners use sticks, chopsticks, and other makeshift devices to prop up their plants.

How might we develop a garden stake that adds to a plant’s beauty while still being supportive?

Developing each character & finetuning their proportions

I created rapid prototypes to see whether the characters could support plants and were cute. I then worked on modeling each character in CAD, focusing on proportions to reduce supports and make it easy to print.

I decided to use wooden dowels for the support sticks.

MANUFACTURING

3D printing & manufacturing 10 sets of 3 characters while optimizing the process

Each character took about 3 - 4 hours to print. I resolved issues with supports, missing parts, and rough finishes to result in minimal manual labor for production.

BRANDING

Developing the Misho identity

I developed a fun and playful image for the Misho clan, creating backstories and personalities for each character to make them more personable.

Pastel colors, rounded fonts, and bubbly images were used throughout to create a friendly feeling.

Meet the Misho Clan

Thought to be just myths of the past, Mishos are a small clan of mystical creatures with great powers. Their origins are unknown, however, they tend to gravitate towards plants and help them grow. If you look closely, you may even find one in your home today.

The wise head of the clan leads the Misho people from plant to plant. Peculiarly, they insist on carrying a sign wherever they go.

The resident strong-creature of the clan, Brawno never misses the opportunity to show off their strength or chug their protein smoothie.

Never seen upright, Acro swears walking upside down makes them seem smarter. The Misho clan thinks otherwise.
